Because I can

In two months it will be a year since my complete hysterectomy. I share this with joy saying, “I can do 60 full crunches now like I used to.” This is not bragging. I know many a person who giggles at that amount. I say this in thankfulness for a body that will allow me to exercise in this way.

I do crunches for my sister Char Ames. I walk two miles each day for my sister Char. I push myself to do more than I did the day before for my sister Char.

Char is the most amazing wife, mommy, sister and CeCe to her little loves. She works her butt off everyday from her wheelchair to embrace every area of life that God has blessed her with. She just saw Stonehenge last week for goodness sake.

She does all of these things from a sitting position but more often from a praying position. I am not over exaggerating when I say she’s my hero.
She can quote more Bible than anyone I know and she prays harder and more often than anyone I know. She’s my sis and sometimes I forget to tell her how amazed I am by her.
So, today I decided to do it publicly.
I work physically hard because I don’t take it for granted that I can. It’s a gift. The bodies God gave us are gifts. Do we take them for granted? Yes! Everyone does.
But, when we recover from major surgery we are reminded how special health is and it should spur us on to be better.

I guess I just wanted to encourage you today to thank God for your body that works the way He designed it to work. I’m also encouraging you and me to treat our bodies like the Temple of The Holy Spirit. Jesus lives in you if you are a believer! When you remember that, you’ll do a couple more crunches than yesterday.
I do them because I can.
