The Aroma of Christ

By Mo Mydlo
I spent the morning outside. I worked in the garden while listening to gospel music then I went for a walk. I circle my land 8 times to do 2 miles.
Every time I would walk behind the garden the intoxicating smell of citrus blossoms would overpower me.
Keep in mind, I have three, small citrus trees. One lemon and two orange. Only one of the trees has blossoms right now. Just one tree.
As I was walking I said “God, how can one tree smell so good and fragrant?” God impressed on my Spirit, “That’s the power of one!”
One blossoming tree can add so much fragrant beauty to the Earth. How about one soul, sold out for Jesus?
What if we lived our lives so intentionally to honor God like that one plant that is intentionally blossoming to bear fruit?
We are called to bear fruit! Fruit for The Kingdom of God.
Are we? Are we living and moving and breathing with intentionality?
Are we living to look like God, walk like God, talk like God, how about even smell like God?
The Word says in 2 Corinthians 2:15, “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.”
II Corinthians 2:15 NKJV
Oh y’all…. To be called “the fragrance or aroma of Christ!” What kind of honor that would be.
What kind of goal that is.
What kind of purpose we would have.
Not living for self, or money or man-made pleasures, but to live in such a way that people know something’s different about you. They can even smell Him on you.
Yup…. That’s my goal. To smell like the aroma of Christ!
I’ve got a lot of work to do. Most of the time I smell like a farm.
But once in a while… maybe just maybe, someone can smell Jesus on me.
Oh Lord, let it be.
How about you? Think about it. Your life has purpose. God designed you that way. Our purpose is to emulate Christ and share Him with others. All
of us. Not just the pastors and church staff. We are all called to follow Jesus and try to live like Him and to encourage others to do so.
Don’t think you can make a difference?
God thinks you can.
He showed me today, the power of one!
Go smell like Jesus today.
