This Very Day

If middle age has taught me anything, it is that every moment is a gift. Every new birth, every birthday, every decision for Christ, every special occasion.
But, not only these momentous occasions are gifts, this very day is a gift.
This morning while sipping my coffee and reading my devotions with God I heard Him say, “Slow down, and enjoy right now.”
I sipped my yummy coffee, pet my sweet dog and took a deep breath. I looked out the window at the flowers and said “Thank you Jesus.”
I turned to Tommy Mydlo in his sitting chair and said “This is a blessing. Right now! Right now is a blessing! Drinking coffee together as we start the day is a blessing.”
Ya’ll, as we make our to do lists for the day which include housework, fixing the toilet at the thrift shop, weeding the garden and working my volunteer shift at the store, I’m thankful!
I’m grateful!
I’m happy. Not just ok, I’m happy.
Blessed means happy.
And, this life is a blessing.
I think of the things I’ve prayed my whole life for….
A loving husband
Kids
Grands
A job I would do whether I got paid or not.
A safe, warm, home.
I’m sitting in the prayers I’ve prayed for many years, and as I sip my coffee I am crying in thankfullness.
You see, every day is a gift.
Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday are gifts.
Every breath we take is one more chance to thank God and honor Him with our gifts.
I’m just grateful.
Grateful for today.
Sit down and don’t rush right now. Don’t scroll, don’t text, don’t fret, for just a minute and think about it. You are sitting in the blessings you’ve prayed years for. Don’t rush it.
Enjoy right now.
This rose bush is one we planted on my sweet Mama’s birthday after she went to Heaven. It’s blooming in all its Glory and for this, I give thanks.
