I snapped a pic of my Sara last night as she was sweeping up the kitchen after dinner. She called to let me know what new food the baby tried yesterday. It is such a blessing to see what a good little eater she is.
Tommy and I can almost predict when a FaceTime ring is coming through each day. It’s almost like Holy Spirit is prepping us to be still for a second to remember what is really important…our people.
It is the joy of my heart when my daughter or sons or daughter in laws or son in law FaceTime me. I hear that ring and the next thing I know it’s usually a toddler’s face lighting up the screen wanting to tell Mimi and Papa something. Or it’s a question, usually from my girl, wondering how long chicken can thaw in the fridge or if it really matters if you seperate lights and darks in the laundry, or what can she do to get the two year old to realize he still needs to nap.
I love these calls, because they represent my daughter’s highest calling, to be a wife and mother.
I love encouraging her as a woman of God to be joyful in the season she is in right now and never rush it.
I know her administrative brain wants to check off more to do lists that the world says are important right now, but I always remind her, she is doing God’s greatest work by trusting Him and obeying Him at home with her family.
I remind her of a successful to do list of a mom with 2 under 2!
It may look like.
1)Be there when they wake up to snuggle a long time.
2)Cook 3 healthy meals, whether half of them end up on the floor or not.
3)Pray with them, read to them and talk about Jesus and teach them nursery rhymes and shapes and numbers and letters.
4)Talk to them all day long about everything as you are doing everyday life.
5)Play outside
6)Give them bubble baths, especially after ice cream cones.
7) dishes and dishes and dishes
8)laundry and laundry and laundry.
9)FaceTime Mom to remind me I’m doing amazing.
I love watching my kids as parents. I love watching them raise Godly kids. It’s the highest calling there is. I love being a Mimi. Those littles are a the best parts of my favorite humans on Earth. I’m truly obsessed with them.
Well, I better get off the phone. I should be hearing my favorite ring soon.
I try to never miss it.
